Famous French fiction writer Bernard Werber's Nous Les Dieux includes a story in which the earth is miniatured as small as a football. Comparing the diameters, the earth is miniatured approximately 1.8 x 10-8 times, in other words, 18 nano-times. The god-candidates in his story observe human beings in the football-sized earth using a handheld device called "Ankh." It is as same as humans observing nano-structures using an electron microscope. The god-candidates the humans establish a civilization through only Ankh and revealations. Sometimes, the humans outstanding creatures that even God did not excepted. In the nano-world, phenomena that the macro-world did not expected appear and today, science has discovered and understood a part of them and is using them. It is ten years before nanoscience began to attract attention in Korea. As many studies have obtained excellent results, so nanoscience has settled in the information technology (IT), bio technology (BT) and energy / environment technology(ET) fields as an essential platform technology and is evolving into a convergence technology.
This presentation aims at understanding of the basic concept of nanoscience, inquiring into nanoscience learning from nature and will introduce nanoscience evolving into a convergence technology.
